Day 4 - Prague

Day 4 was our final day in Prague! We spent the first part of the day doing a castle tour, which I must say was not very good since we didn't even get a tour guide! All we did was visit each area and take pictures!

The spent lunch in a nice bar/restaurant type place and the food was very good, most of us were very happy with it.

We then got back to the hostel afterwards, did some last minute packing and headed to the Airport. We committed a bit of a blooper at the airport, since we lined up to check in but we didn't realise we had already checked in! Afterwards we then did our class quiz, in which questions revolved around the class members and most of them were pretty funny!

We then caught our flight and headed to the airport, where we were met by Steph DC's mother Denise Duff-Cole. She took myself, Steph and Kaleigh to Braintree where we got picked up by our parents, and then took the rest of the class back to Colchester.

Day 3 - Prague

On Day 3 we spent the whole day at the Traditional Czech Festival, we had a great time and we got to watch live music, as well as experience traditional czech food and drink. Some of the others also went on the rides which was fun to watch, but I can't experience how they felt actually going on them! We had a tad bit of trouble finding the location prior to getting there, but we got there in the end.

In the evening, we chilled out with each other.

Day 2 - Prague

On Day 2 we woke up early and headed into the town centre for a walking tour. We visited several of the main area's of the city and had a fun time. We learnt a lot and also took a lot of pictures of nice places. In the evening we went on the river cruise which for me was the highlight of the trip. We got to hang out on the deck of the boat and chat whilst experiencing some of the nice views, and it looked even better at night.

Day 1 - Prague

Today we flew in and settled into the hostel. The flights weren't too long either. I stayed on the first floor, which I'm fine with. The hostel is really nice as well since there was internet access, lounge area and an outside area which was nice to visit in the mornings. In the evening we were desperate to find a place to eat, and we ended up eating in a small pizzeria.

Presentation done + preparing for car wash

Tuesday night we did the presentation for our parents, where we outlined all of the key components such as accommodation, transport, flight details and the itinerary. We considered it a success even though there were some problems with the contact details (oops on my part).

Tomorrow we do our car wash which is the last fundraiser we do before we fly out to Prague on tuesday afternoon. So far we have 18 bookings (currently).

Risk Assessment

We have just completed a risk assessment assignment which shows us the risks and hazards that might happen in Prague. This was done like a booklet, we assessed each risk with a high, medium or low factor. We then write how we can reduce the risks from happening.

Fundraisers + Meeting 3 + 4

So far we have come up with two more fundraiser ideas. The first one is the cake sale which will take place on April 1st. We will just be selling cakes.

Our second fundraiser will be a car wash, which will take place late April -early May. We hope the weather will be warm for this occasion, and that is won't be raining. I mean, heck the rainwater could was their cars for them!

21/1 /11 - Meeting three - Secretary was Megan L

Meeting three saw some progress being made. The flights to Prague have been booked and we fly on the 10th May. We need ONE piece of hand luggage The total costs of the flights were £69.05 each and £759.56. Several people (including me) have yet to bring in our EV4 form, EHIC card and passports so they can be photocopied. Kaleigh and Lorna found TWO hostels, which were "Sir Toby's" and "Hostel City Centre". Myself and Luaren put together the roles and responsibilites and contact tables which we then types onto the computer. We got close to deciding on the hostel and right now I think we are leaning towards Sir Toby's Hostel.

The fundraisers can up with an idea for a cake stall on Valentines Day. We decided on what types of cakes we want to sell, including the prices.

18/2/11 - Meeting 4 - Secretary was Blaise

Meeting 4 was our final meeting. We raised £76 towards our trip fund and the rest went to Help the Heroes (£143.50). The total fundrasing figure for the class was £282.10. Itinerary needs to be finalised according to the several changes to the trip, such as booking the traditional festival. We also created a check-list of what needs to be brought on the trip, as well as the code of conduct.

Meeting 1 + Meeting 2

This was supposed to be posted before my last post, but we sorted out our roles, and my role is with Lauren in Admin and Finance. We have sent a letter to Michael Mead, and he has sent it out already to the students parents. Blaise, Steph and Hayley are doing the fundraising, Gemma and Steph are sorting out the attractions and activities. Lorna and Kaleigh are doing Accomodation and finance. Megan and Kristy are also doing transport.

Actual date done was 10th of December - Secretary was Lorna E

Meeting 2 was held on the 7th January - Secretary was Steph B

Our second meeting was the first meeting where we would look into the different ideas that we could include into the trip. The transfers to and from the airport were to be decided between a mini-bus or a taxi. However the idea of the Taxi was deemed unsuitable since each taxi holds 4 people and it would cost a lot more than using a bus.

Accommodation needed more research. We came up with a hostel which would cost each student £37 per person however breakfast not included. However we did find out that there was a cafe next door to it.

The attractions team came up with a few ideas, and one of which was a segway tour around the city centre. The river cruise was another idea and it is definitely going to happen according to the attractions team. It includes a river cruise at night with dinner and drinks paid seperately. Another idea for an attraction would be a spa day, however a lot more research was needed for the activity.

Fundraisers came unprepared and there were no concrete idea's included either. However in the meeting they came up with an idea on dates to do fundraisers. Both dates decided were mothers day and valentines. In the next meeting the fundraisers have to come with more concrete fundraising ideas.
